During the autumn & winter months all the main Owl and Kestrel boxes have to be cleaned out & repaired. The first box to check was one we had noted Bees using throughout summer, luckily for us there was no activity from this one now so we decided to check and prepare it for 2018.
As you can see it looks like a Pigeon had used it for quite some time then the Bees took over. We removed the contents and cleaned out the box removing any parasites lurking inside, wood chippings work great as a platform to stop the eggs rolling about, they also keep pellets off the floor.
After fitting the inspection camera we finished off with roofing felt giving the box even more years of protection to what ever needs a safe place to stay.
