Well who'd of believed it six Little Owls made it, all carefully looked after by an amazing mum, she tended the eggs for 35 days and nights!
The first egg was laid on the 1st of April 2017, on the 6th 3 eggs, 7th 4 eggs, by the 15th she'd laid a total of six eggs, she started to incubate the eggs when the fifth one was laid. When she laid that sixth egg is was unreal. The first egg hatched on the on the 5th May with lots of squeaking from the egg and reassuring clucking by mum, eating the egg she helped the first little owlet out, by the 23rd of May we noticed five had made it, but what about the sixth?
He was a few days behind the rest, after several hours of watching we noticed the poor little fella hidden right at the back under mum, they were all safely out, such a relief.
What a sight to behold, six fluff balls all wriggling about, arguing, pecking and sleeping in a circle to keep warm, all stuck in a small nest for another 9 days till the 1st June. We decided to call the runt Titch as he was about 1/2 the size of the rest. He was a bit lonely been stuck at the back, he stayed inside the box allot longer than the others but somehow managed to get enough food. The first Owlet was seen branching on the 2nd June followed by the rest over the next few days.
